American Counseling Association
The American Counseling Association (ACA), is an organization that focuses on Advocacy for Professional Counselors across the nation. Its members number over 51,000 strong. ACA currently has 17 divisions representing Professional Counselors in numerous occupational settings and specialty areas. ACA is the umbrella organization that charters state branches, including ORCA.
Membership in ACA offers access to a variety of services including professional liability insurance, professional learning programs year-round, the annual ACA National Conference each spring, free subscriptions to "Counseling Today" and the "Journal of Counseling and Development", research assistance through the ACA Library, research grants via the ACA Foundation, national employment postings, emphasis on public policy and advocacy that supports the profession of counseling, affiliation with CACREP and NBCC, approved CE credits by state licensing and national certification boards, and the ACA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, to name a few.
